The Institute for Deliberative Democracy (DDI) is a non-profit, non-partisan association founded in 2012. The mission of the Institute is to improve representative and direct democracy by means of deliberative citizen participation and to enhance transparent and discursive decision-making in Finland. We do this by bringing together practitioners and researchers, organizing annual Research and Development Day, coordinating study circle and gathering information about deliberative processes in Finland.
The activities of the Institute are coordinated by an Executive Committee consisting of researchers and civil society experts. As members of the Institute we welcome both private individuals interested in improving deliberative participation, and organizations working in related fields.
